Have you ever had Peruvian Sandwiches before? I hadn’t until recently, I figured they couldn’t be much different than the Chilean alternative, oh how wrong I was.
Zambo is part of a Chilean restaurant group called “Sociales Limo”. Their mission? To bring quality Peruvian and Peruvian fusion to Santiago. Lets explore what Zambo has to offer you.
At this sandgucheria, standards are offered such as empinadas and so on. What you’ll find here that isn’t as common is BBQ chicken wings. Sounds boring right? Wrong!
A staple of sports bars everywhere has found its way into a modern South American eatery with a savory glaze, two dipping sauces, and the complimentary carrot and celery stick combo. The sauce and glaze is what really differs, with a selection of six or seven exotic in house sauces to please the palate.
Have you ever found yourself out for a night on the town thowing back a Pisco or two? Then surely you know what Chorillana is. Zambo sets itself apart from the rest with yucca fries, churrosco meat, caramelized onion, red pepper, and two perfectly fried eggs.
I recommend enjoying the specialty bar food with an ice cold craft beer.
| The Sandwiches
The Peruvian sandwiches at Zambo are an excellent addition to its tasty lineup, and whats served is quite different from the norm.
A Lomo Saltado or simply “Saltado Sandwich” is the classic Peruvian fare in sandwich form. With juicy chunks of seared steak, carmalized red onion, and shoe string fries, don’t forget the fried egg and bacon. This explosive flavor is served on thick, fresh ciabatta bread.
Up next is not your average club sandwich. Nice crispy thin bread holds together a composition of shredded pork, simple ham, bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and some well spiced mayo! A delicious surprise to the preconceived club sandwich.
The “Boastersaurio” is Zambo’s resident crispy chicken sandwich. Believe me that a great chicken sandwich is not easy to find in Santiago. Avocado and spicy mayo make this a nice addition.
All these dishes include game changing yucca fries. This provides a fresh earthy taste to the latter option. Include some great sauces for dipping and your good to go!
Zambo is sure to be a hit in it’s Bella Vista location. Most food options in the area tend to be expensive or dirt cheap. What you’ll find here is very tasty food for an excellent price. I’ll definitely think of Zambo and it’s Peruvian sandwiches on my next nightlife excursion, you should too.
